TRC >> DELTA Control vs. the DELTA Station The DELTA Control was designed for HO layouts. It is connected between the conventional AC train control transformer and the model railroad layout. The locomotive to be controlled is selected at the DELTA Control, and the speed is set or the direction of travel is changed at the transformer. The DELTA Control is compatible with the power capabilities of the 6627/6631 and 6647 train control transformers. The train control transformer and the DELTA Control may only be used indoors. Another locomotive can be controlled independently of the four other addresses on the DELTA Control by using the DELTA Pilot (hand controller) after the latter has been connected to the former. DELTA operation of the Märklin MAXI (1 Gauge) toy train railway requires greater power than the HO system and the option of operating the system outdoors on a garden railway. Therefore to operate multiple MAXI trains on a layout the DELTA Station and DELTA Mobil hand controller are required. The DELTA Station, together with a 6001/6002 Transformer, can provide up to 42 VA with (6001) / 52 VA (with 6002) (note: 1 VA is approximately 1 watt) of power. Selecting the locomotive address, setting the speed and the direction of travel, and activating the emergency halt is done with the new DELTA Mobil hand controller. Up to four of these hand controllers can be connected to the DELTA Station, so that several people can be operating the layout together (all hand controllers have access to the four existing locomotive addresses). The DELTA Station and the DELTA Mobil hand controller can also be used outdoors (the transformer for providing power must remain indoors for safety reasons). If Digital locomotives are operated with the DELTA Station, the headlights for these locomotives will be on. In principle the DELTA Station can also be used for HO layouts. Digital locomotives with TELEX couplers, unfortunately, can not be used in this situation, since the TELEX couplers would be on constantly. Remember, these locomotives have the TELEX couplers instead of the headlights as an auxiliary function. In contrast to the DELTA Control, this function is on with the DELTA Station. The DELTA Control is not suitable for operation of a MAXI toy train setup. Any Maxi locomotive can be controlled wit the DELTA Control, but the power requirements of the MAXI locomotives are greater than for HO such that two locomotives in operation can cause the DELTA Control to shut off. In addition, with the DELTA Control locomotive speed is regulated with the rotary knob on the transformer. For safety reasons, as already mentioned elsewhere, the transformer is not made to be used outdoors. Important! The 6605 DELTA Pilot (HO) hand controller for the 6604 DELTA Control and the 6608 DELTA Mobil (MAXI) hand controller for the 6607 DELTA Station are two independent developments which cannot b interchanged with each other. This means that the DELTA Pilot cannot be used with the DELTA Station and the DELTA Mobil cannot be used with the DELTA Control! |
